St. Joseph has a population of 9,000 residents and is a popular stopping point between Detroit and Chicago. Known for lovely Silver Beach, featuring two lighthouses, St. Joseph has become a second home residence, prompting more and more art galleries and coffeehouses to open in the town.
There are several parks in St. Joseph, offering picnic spots with prime views of the beach, volleyball nets, hiking, swimming and canoeing. An activity-oriented children's museum called the Curious Kids Museum is available for the younger set, while in neighboring town like Berrien Springs and Baroda visitors can explore the local wineries.
In neighboring Benton Harbor, known for its Blossomtime Festival, which celebrates the advent of spring, the area has dwindled down to mainly residential homes. Still, it offers a nature center, and is in close proximity to several nearby wineries.
St. Joseph and Benton Harbor are located along the St. Joseph River in southwestern Michigan.
