Additional Details

There are 41 campsites set among large shade trees, each has a table and fire ring. There are seven specified sites available for handicapped people, as well as other facilities. Drinking water is conveniently located throughout the campground.

Picnic grounds are adjacent to the swimming area. It has its own parking lot and a surfaced path connects it with the swimming area and restrooms. This is a beautiful, shaded area with a nice view of the lake -- a great place to spend a hot summer afternoon.

The VanWinkle Nature Trail is just off the day use boat access. This trail is a three mile, two hour leisurely walk. Two rest stops are located on the trail. There is also a cut-off trail provided for those not wishing to complete the entire route. A number of attractions are marked along the way to give you a better understanding of the area and its ecology.

The best fishing will usually occur just at, or shortly after dawn or late in the evening. Most predominant here are smallmouth bass, bluegills and perch.

There are two boat accesses; one in the campground for campers and another near the picnic area for day users. There is no parking area in the campground.

Camp supplies, food, gasoline, and restaurants are available on Forest Highway 13, US-2 and County Road 437.

Camp 7 Lake Campground is a fee area. Golden Passports are accepted.
