Description
The Carp River Campground is located 8 miles north of St. Ignace off the Mackinac Trail (H-63). It is in a quiet, rustic setting adjacent to the Carp Wild & Scenic River and is a great place to enjoy camping, fishing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, or to just "get away from it all."

There are 44 sites, all wooded and shaded from the hot summer sun. Each site has a table and a fire ring. Water pumps and vault toilets are conveniently spaced throughout the campground. There are no accessible facilities available at this campground.
,p>Access to the North Country National Scenic Trail is only 8 miles west of the Campground at East Lake Road (FR-3116), or 6 miles west at Forest Road 3104.You can access the river via a small trail between campsites 18 and 20, as well as by 2 sets of stairs along the river bank. Fish species caught in this river include brook, brown, and rainbow trout.
Another area that you might try fishing is at the mouth of the Carp River, where it flows into St. Martin Bay on Lake Huron. This can be reached by taking H-63 south to just beyond the underpass of I-75, FR-3127. There is an accessible fishing pier, vault toilets, and a boat launch. Depending on the time of year, fish caught at the mouth of the river include lake herring, steelhead, salmon, brook, and brown trout.
St. Ignace has a variety of recreational opportunities for your enjoyment. There are miles of sandy beaches along Lakes Huron and Michigan, the father Marquette National Memorial, the Ojibwa Museum, and ferry services to historic Mackinac Island. There are also good restaurants, golfing, and shopping opportunities that will make your visit to the St. Ignace area a memorable one.
Carp River Campground is a concessionaire-operated fee area. Golden Passports are accepted.
